Six Month Smiles is an orthodontic correction technique that is aimed at straightening the front upper and lower teeth; in around six months. Treatment times vary depending on the patient’s dental health situation and how much straightening is required.
The brackets are clear on the Six Month Smiles braces and the nickel-titanium wires are tooth-colored, making it an ideal treatment plan for several orthodontic problems that can affect the cosmetic appearance of the teeth.
The patient receives an increase in comfort from a combination of low-movement forces and a short treatment time. This also increases both safety and oral hygiene making Six Month Smiles braces the ideal choice for patients who want the cosmetic straightening benefits of braces, but do not have the need for bite corrections.
Six Month Smiles Treatments
The Six Month Smiles braces are the ideal short term treatment for a variety of orthodontic misalignment problems. Some of these misalignment problems include:
The Six Month Smiles braces are also ideal for orthodontic problems that cause issues with the front teeth like diastemas, spacing, overbites, open bites, and crowding teeth, to name a few.
After receiving a detailed examination of your jaw, teeth, gums, and overall oral health, Dr. Radz will obtain X-rays, photographs, and impressions that will be used to determine whether or not Six Month Smiles will work for you.
After deciding that Six Month Smiles will work for you the next step is for the Six Month Smile laboratory to calculate the precision tooth movement required to perfectly straighten your front teeth and then decide where the clear brackets and tooth-colored wires should go.
The following visit to your Denver dentist will consist of the fitting of the clear brackets and tooth-colored wires. After fitting, the brackets will be fused, with bonding adhesive, to your front tooth’s enamel surface. They are placed in exactly the right position and a custom tray is inserted to hold it in place. Once the bracket is set, the tray is removed and the adhesive is hardened with a high-intensity light. The last step in fitting the Six Month Smiles braces is to attach the tooth colored wires and to adjust them to fit.
Now that the Six Month Smiles braces are in place, you will need to visit your dentist every five weeks for any needed adjustments. For more information please contact Cosmetic Dentistry of Colorado today.
